The information Technology Directorate (ITD) is responsible for delivering and maintaining the electronic administrative, corporate and learning systems used across the department, and ensuring that technology policies and standards are in place to manage, support and enhance the department’s ICT infrastructure and services.About the RoleThe Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) provides technical leadership and consultation in engineering ‘at-scale’ fault tolerant systems and uses automation in their operational and deployment activities to advance infrastructure reliability, performance, consistency and predictability.  As a Senior SRE, you are expected to perform all SRE functions at an advanced level and mentor and guide the SREs in the team to ensure they are operating effectively, efficiently and are improving their skills and abilities each and every day. You are responsible for the operational health of the Department’s infrastructure platforms; this includes the day two operations and the continual improvement of the infrastructure services provided. Integral to the role is the engineering of new solutions and the end-to-end delivery of systems through automation.  As an SRE you are statistically literate and will use data measurement to improve reliability of systems and the operational performance of the SRE teams. You are part engineer and part creative, grounded in the now but also with an eye on the future looking for new technologies and practices to improve system performance and solve the ‘big’ IT problems. You have a thirst for new technology, are a passionate and collaborative problem solver, with a drive to seek out new ways to improve the Department’s IT systems.  About YouThis role is for you if you can demonstrate and apply from day one the following skills and experience:Experience managing enterprise scale virtualised Linux or Windows environments on premise and in the cloud Experience designing scalable, fault-tolerant services Ability to code in at least one language and are conversant in using code to automate the management of infrastructure A compelling desire to solve the ‘big’ IT problems Demonstrated capability to improve processes and systems at scale Strong interest in emerging technologies, (eg.
